DESCRIPTION

With the Patrick Administration's emphasis on low carbon alternatives for meeting the Commonwealth's energy needs, MassDEP is playing an increasingly important role in influencing energy markets. In particular, with the Division of Energy Resources, MassDEP is designing the rules for the state's implementation of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative ("RGGI") which will affect the market for both supply-side and demand-side resources.

Laurie Burt, formerly the head of Foley Hoag's environmental practice and now Commissioner of MassDEP, will draw on the last few months of her new position, addressing some of the immediate challenges she faced and discussing the agency's priorities for 2008, including the implementation of RGGI, and a variety of other policy initiatives which will directly or indirectly affect the energy sector.

Registration is now available on-line at www.necanews.org, please reserve by February 7, 2008. Mail check payable to NECA or call or fax to Lois Lawson at NECA. Directions are available on the website. No refunds if cancelled less than 24 hours in advance.

COST: NECA members-$50; Non-members-$65; Government-$50
