The Boston Bar Association and The Criminal Law Section is offering a CLE program on Securities Fraud 2009: Madoff, Trials, and the SEC's View on Enforcement on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m.
This annual program will focus on current issues and hot topics of the SEC. Three distinct panels will cover the ins and outs of SEC enforcement, trying a securities fraud case before the government and hedge funds.
Specific Topics will include:
- Insights from senior Enforcement officials as to what lies ahead for the SEC's Enforcement Division
- Give and take with SEC decision makers on how SEC internal processes really work
- The effect of the new Enforcement Division manual
- The role of hedge funds in the Madoff scandal
- Are hedge funds going to be subject to increased regulation?
- Where are regulators headed with restrictions on short-selling?
- Recent trends in criminal and SEC fraud trials
- Effective trial strategies in litigating with the SEC and DOJ
- Using accounting and other experts at trial: disclosure, risks, and opportunities
