DESCRIPTION
From SARS to HIV, infectious disease remains a global public health concern for emerging and developed nations alike. Growing concerns and focus on the H1N1 pandemic has reinvigorated the market for infectious disease research and vaccine development across both the public and private sectors.
Pharma has not only quickly developed an effective and plentiful supply of H1N1 vaccine, but has also recently cut a number of deals with emerging biotechnology companies piloting new approaches to infectious disease therapy to both address a pressing market need and help fill their pipelines. New funding for projects from basic research to vaccine development, has afforded academia and industry additional incentives to renew the commitment to developing new approaches to treating disease. The challenges are still substantial, but these new approaches are bearing fruit and hold tremendous promise.
Join us for a stimulating discussion on the state of vaccines and global health today and into the future.
