Foley Hoag Pro Bono Efforts Success for The Polish Boys Choir (Polskie Slowiki)
Boston, MA - June 3, 2003
Foley Hoag LLP, a business law firm of more than 240 attorneys with offices in Washington, D.C. and Boston, has announced that Attorney Punam Rogers, with the assistance of Patricia Wedding, a paralegal at Foley Hoag LLP, recently executed a P visa petition for a renowned boys choir from Poland called Polskie Slowiki (also known as The Polish Nightingales). The culmination of Foley Hoag's exhaustive pro bono efforts will enable U.S. audiences to attend the concerts of one of today's most celebrated European boys choirs.
The Youth Choir, an organization dedicated to the promotion of musical education and cultural exchange between local youths, particularly among underserved populations and youth choirs of international stature, turned to Foley Hoag on behalf of the Polish Nightingales for legal assistance at the suggestion of Volunteer Lawyers in the Arts.
The Polish Nightingales have been at the forefront of international boys choirs for over fifty-seven years. Throughout the decades, The Polish Nightingales have earned international acclaim for performances rich with artistic expression. Their programs range from a cappella concerts which include works the Gregorian Choir, to those by modern composers such as: Pergolesi, Haydn, Bach, Handel and Mozart. The Polish Nightingales' reputation for excellence in their interpretations of works by classical composers, has led them to perform at countless world renowned concert halls including: Carnegie Hall, New York; Berlin Philharmonic; Vienna Musikverein, the "Carre" theater; Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Theater; Victoria Hall, Singapore; the Bolivian Center, Caracas; and Philharmonic, Warsaw. In addition, they have held special performance for Pope John II, U.S. President Nixon, Queen Fabiola and Prince Boudin of Belgian. In collaborative efforts with famous and well respected musicians and singers The Polish Nightingales have also performed with Kysztof Penderecki (renowned Polish Composer) and Jose Carreras (world celebrated Spanish Tenor).
In appreciation of Foley Hoag's efforts and dedication, The Polish Nightingales, in collaboration with the Youth Choir, held a private performance for Foley Hoag on April 28th at the World Trade Center Complex. Public audiences also had the opportunity to enjoy culturally unique performances of The Polish Nightingales on April 30th at Boston's historic Arlington Street Church, 581 Boylston Street in Boston's Back Bay.
