Foley Hoag LLP Hires DeAnn Foran Smith As Partner in Life Sciences and Patent Groups

Foley Hoag LLP, a business and litigation law firm of 250 attorneys with offices in Boston and Washington, D.C., proudly announces the addition of DeAnn Foran Smith as a partner in its growing Life Sciences and Patent Practice groups.
Foley Hoag's Life Sciences and Patent Practice groups, which number more than 65 attorneys, have served an international clientele of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies as well as some of the nation's top research institutions and universities for more than 30 years. The practices are renowned for their work in emerging and established technologies.
Ms. Smith joins Foley Hoag's Life Sciences and Patent Practice groups from Lahive & Cockfield, where she was a partner practicing in the biotechnology/chemistry patent group. Her technical specialties include immunology, genomics, gene therapy, proteomics and drug development. A U.S. registered patent attorney with 15 years of experience in obtaining worldwide patent protection, Ms. Smith advises clients on matters relating to intellectual property portfolio strategy, including development, implementation and management. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Law and Michigan State University.
