Tom Barker Moderates BioPharm America Panel on Drug Development in an Evolving Healthcare System
September 13, 2011
Foley Hoag LLP partner Thomas Barker moderated the panel “Drug Development in an Evolving Healthcare Ecosystem” at BioPharm America 2011 in Boston on Sept. 7.
Barker’s panel explored models for collaboration within the entire healthcare value chain, which are becoming more important as healthcare moves away from the blockbuster model toward more personalized care and individualized medicine. Speakers discussed the new order between the different players in the healthcare system and the paradigms these collaborations create for drug development and healthcare delivery.
Panelists joining Barker included Charlie Baker, entrepreneur-in-residence at General Catalyst Partners; Gary Gottlieb, MD, president and CEO of Partners HealthCare; and Jose Carlos Gutierrez-Ramos, senior vice president for BioTherapeutics research and development at Pfizer.
