Foley Hoag Expands Energy Technology and Renewables Practice

Former Practice Co-Founder Mark Barnett Rejoins the Firm From Sun Catalytix
Mark Barnett has rejoined Foley Hoag LLP in Boston as Counsel in the firm’s Business Department and Energy Technology and Renewables Practice Group.
Mark rejoins Foley Hoag from Sun Catalytix, an energy storage and renewable fuels technology company in Cambridge, Mass., where he was the general counsel and vice president of business development. Before joining Sun Catalytix, he co-founded Foley Hoag’s Energy Technology and Renewables Practice Group.
Mark will focus on renewable and advanced energy technology companies and projects and join Foley Hoag partners Mary Beth Gentleman and Mark Haddad as co-chairs of the Energy Technology and Renewables Practice Group. He also will serve the corporate and finance needs of other energy companies and emerging technology businesses outside of the clean technology space.

Foley Hoag’s Energy Technology and Renewables Practice Group meets the needs of companies, investors and lenders in every stage of development. The practice helps emerging and established clients address issues involving energy regulatory and environmental compliance, project structuring and finance, public securities offerings, tax, and real estate. In addition, the team works with investors and lenders to assess emerging and more established businesses.
The opportunity to rejoin the practice that he helped form attracted Mark to Foley Hoag.

Mark’s client and industry experience spans technologies and projects in renewable electricity generation, energy storage, energy efficiency, renewable fuels and alternative transportation and other advanced energy technologies and projects. He has advised project developers in all aspects of development, including debt and equity financing, joint ventures and partnerships, supply and off-take agreements, and regulatory matters.
A graduate of Yale Law School and Yale University, Mark previously served as counsel to the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, a quasi-public state agency that supports the development of clean energy technology.
