Richard G. Baldwin
Rich Baldwin is an associate in the firm’s Litigation department. His practice focuses on bankruptcy litigation, representing debtors, creditors and creditors’ committees in all stages of bankruptcy proceedings. Rich also represents clients involved in complex litigation matters involving business disputes, securities and intellectual property.
In addition to his commercial litigation practice, Rich maintains an active pro bono practice. He has represented dozens of clients in housing, domestic violence and special education matters and participates in Foley Hoag’s intake clinic at the South Boston Community Health Center through the Medical-Legal Partnership | Boston.
As a law student, Rich was a law clerk in the Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Branch of the National Labor Relations Board and a trial assistant in the Felony Division of the Rhode Island Office of the Public Defender. Rich was also an editor of the Boston College Law School Uniform Commercial Code Reporter-Digest.
Prior to practicing law, Rich was an account manager for an international public relations agency, where he planned communications campaigns and provided media and analyst relations services to more than two dozen technology companies.

Successfully defended an international provider of business to business virtual marketplaces against a reach and apply action brought by Chapter 7 trustee to satisfy a debt owed to the debtor by one of the client’s customers.

Counseled an international oil supplier throughout the Chapter 11 reorganization of one of its largest customers.

Obtained summary judgment in favor of public manufacturer of electrical and utility products, dismissing the claims of a contractor that botched an environmental cleanup of client’s property and leading to a settlement to cover the costs of a replacement contractor.

Represented minority shareholder in its direct and derivative claims against majority shareholder arising out of majority shareholder’s exercise of put rights.
