Joshua Jarvis specializes in intellectual property matters, with an emphasis on trademark and copyright prosecution and policing, including U.S. and international trademark searching, clearance, registration and enforcement. He represents clients in trademark disputes, trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and trademark prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Joshua works with U.S. Customs and Border Protection to prevent infringing imports from entering the U.S. He also advises clients in connection with copyright matters, including protection of copyrighted materials and securing copyright registrations in the U.S. Copyright Office.

In addition to traditional trademark and copyright matters, Joshua focuses on Internet-related issues, assisting clients in developing and maintaining domain name portfolios, and advising clients in connection with domain name disputes and trademark infringement in connection with meta tags, search keywords and other developing areas of trademark law. He has substantial experience with Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings, representing clients before the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center. As an active committee member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), Joshua drafts comments and advises INTA and IPO leadership regarding various Internet and domain name issues, including the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) program to expand the domain name space.  He is also the Editor of Foley Hoag’s Trademark & Copyright Law blog.

Joshua advises clients in connection with intellectual property rights in the context of corporate transactions, including transfer and licensing of trademarks and copyrighted works such as books, sculptures, audiovisual works, musical recordings and computer software.
