Eric Macaux helps clients overcome a wide array of administrative law challenges involving energy and environmental matters. Eric’s energy practice focuses on helping organizations navigate the rapidly changing state and federal regulatory landscape. He is substantially involved with matters related to the development of, and compliance with, renewable portfolio standards and net metering regulations. He advises on the siting and permitting of energy generation facilities.

Eric also has a broad practice representing clients in environmental compliance and litigation matters. He has helped public and private companies negotiate compliance mechanisms with state environmental agencies in matters related to landfill closure, groundwater discharge, and wastewater systems. Eric has particular experience representing clients seeking insurance recovery for environmental contamination claims.

In addition to his work with for-profit clients, Eric has an active pro bono practice, including providing advice to community development corporations responding to increased foreclosures in low-income Boston neighborhoods.

As a law student, Eric worked for the Georgetown Environmental Law and Policy Institute, where he studied how municipalities are using zoning ordinances and takings law as environmental preservation tools. He was also a competitor and coach for Georgetown’s international law moot court team, and served as Senior Notes Editor for THE GEORGETOWN JOURNAL OF LEGAL ETHICS.
