Technology Specialist - Engineering
March 12, 2018
Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our New York office for a Technology Specialist with a background in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Engineering Physics. An M.S. or M.Eng. in one of these fields or a B.S. with masters-equivalent work experience is preferred.
We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and from zero to three years of patent prosecution experience. Technical experience in the areas of manufacturing engineering or applied mathematics is a plus. A successful candidate who is not a registered patent agent will be expected to take and to pass the USPTO registration exam within a year of being hired. Candidates are encouraged to review the USPTO eligibility criteria prior to applying.
We staff our clients’ patent matters leanly, affording Technology Specialists an opportunity for significant responsibility and excellent career development. They typically work one-on-one with associates and partners, gain a depth of experience in a broad range of patent strategy, drafting, prosecution and diligence matters, and get immediate client contact. Such experience has contributed to the firm’s consistently excellent rankings in various national satisfaction surveys and industry recognition lists. Our technology practice has a significant early stage component, and involves working closely with start-up and emerging companies from inception through financing, growth and maturity.
