Although new media has been around for some time it is still a challenge for many medical device companies to find the right strategy and tactical implementation to take advantage of this new medium. Facebook and Twitter are recognized to be the largest social media websites. In addition to this, the U.S. FDA is beginning to provide industry guidance on the new media. This session will focus on how medical device companies can tap into these new media opportunities.

New media is a combination of many Internet technologies ranging from search and social media to online display advertising that, when integrated and implemented across desktop and mobile devices, builds brand awareness and can drive a significant number of leads and revenue for medical device companies, both online and offline.

Our panel of experts will share case studies and actionable tactics from real-world campaigns and experiences plus show you how they are using new media to: connect with targeted audiences; deliver new customers to physical locations; increase inbound calls; grow leads/email lists and more. Our panel will help to put perspective on this topic and help you to determine if this is a strategy that you want to better leverage your company's future.

Speakers

Andrew Burns is group director of marketing communications at Smith & Nephew, a global medical device company. He is responsible for the surgical device division's public relations, advertising, promotional literature, crisis communications and online strategies in the U.S., Europe and Australia. Prior to joining Smith & Nephew, he managed public relations and corporate communications for AutoZone, the Fortune 500 automotive parts retailer, and before that, worked as a journalist, writing for various newspapers and magazines.

Olivier Griot is the founder of Blue Rain Media, a one-stop, full service mobile marketing agency based in Boston. Mr. Griot brings to his clients in life sciences, education and media an expertise in mobile app development acquired over more than 10 years. He helps them simplify the complexity and fragmentation of the mobile ecosystem and grow their business with mobile tools in sales and marketing, commerce and distribution. Having built mobile businesses at both Hearst Magazines and Hachette Filipacchi Media, he has launched dozens of mobile sites, apps and SMS services, devised user acquisition strategies, and created new revenue streams with pioneering mobile advertising and integrated marketing campaigns. He started his career at Disney, and holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

Greg Jarboe is the president and co-founder of SEO-PR, a pioneer in combining search engine optimization with public relations as well as a leading authority in video marketing and social media marketing. Founded in 2003, SEO-PR has provided a variety of clients with awardwinning results. He is an author or contributor to several books, including YouTube and Video Marketing: An Hour a Day, writes for Search Engine Watch and ReelSEO. and conducts interviews for the SES Conference & Expo channel on YouTube. He is an instructor in the Rutgers mini-MBA programs in digital marketing and social media marketing, a member of the social media and online PR faculty at Market Motive and a senior fellow of the Society for New Communications Research.   

Moderators 

Joop Rijk is the former president and CEO of Advanced Media Productions, a digital marketing agency he founded and ran for more than 15 years. Iin the early days of the Web, he spent 14 years in various product marketing positions at Atex/Kodak, HP/Apollo, Bitstream and Dupont/Imagitex. After the acquisition of Advanced Media Productions, in 2011, he started LR Communications, a consulting business that works with entrepreneurs, start-ups and mature businesses on Internet marketing, online media and technology. He has a degree in print management from AGS in Amsterdam.  

Louise Rijk joined Advanced Media Productions in 2001 to head sales and marketing after a long career teaching mathematics, computer science and supervisory duties in the Weston Public Schools. She has been a frequent presenter to business groups and colleges on Internet marketing, social media and search marketing. Ms. Rijk serves on the board for the MetroWest Chamber of Commence and has BS and MA degrees from New York University and a CAGS degree from Leslie University.
