Foley Hoag Names New Partners for 2010, Corporate and Litigation Practices Represented

Foley Hoag LLP is pleased to announce three promotions to Partner, Euripides D. Dalmanieras, Essence McGill Arzu, and Robert E. Toone. The promotions became effective January 1.
Representative of its core strengths, the firm’s new partners hail from both corporate and litigation practices, in areas from accounting malpractice and securities litigation to complex debt-financing and cross-border transactions.
The firm congratulates the following individuals:
Euripides Dalmanieras (Dakis) is a new Litigation partner. He focuses his practice on securities litigation, accounting malpractice and bankruptcy litigation, as well as other complex commercial disputes. His work in defense of accounting firms is extensive and includes representation of all Big Four firms in securities class actions by the Securities and Exchange Commission, proceedings before the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, and professional malpractice claims brought in federal and state courts throughout the United States. In bankruptcy matters Dakis has represented debtors, creditors’ committees, secured creditors, debenture holders, and private equity funds involved in restructurings, workouts, liquidations, and adversary proceedings. He also is active in pro bono matters, working with the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association and the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights under Law.
Essence McGill Arzu is a new partner in the Business Department. Her practice focuses on advising public and private company clients on numerous transactional and organizational issues. Her varied transactional work involves corporate finance (such as secured and unsecured debt financings and venture capital financings), business combinations (including domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, asset purchases and joint ventures), banking transactions (including federal/state level bank mergers and regulatory compliance) and nonprofit governance matters (including formation and general operational issues, mergers and acquisitions, and maintaining tax-exempt status). Essence has extensive experience with debt financing transactions on both the lender- and the borrower-side (including bank and syndicated credit facilities, mezzanine financings, public and private debt offerings and secured and unsecured loans), as well as international experience in mergers & acquisitions and debt financing and compliance matters. She is active in a number of legal, business and civic organizations, including serving as a board member for the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston, as Vice President of the Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys, and is a past member of the Boston Bar Association’s Public Interest Leadership Program.
Robert E. Toone (Robin) is a new Litigation partner focusing on complex commercial and financial litigation, securities enforcement, and related government investigations. He has successfully represented corporations, financial institutions, corporate officers, government officials, and educational institutions in a broad range of trial and appellate matters. Robin has argued cases in the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the First, Second, Fourth, and Eleventh Circuits and in federal district courts across the nation and has authored amicus briefs for leading educational organizations and members of Congress in key U.S. Supreme Court cases. In 2009, Robin served on the Advisory Committee to Recommend Appointment of the U.S. Attorney, U.S. Marshal, and U.S. District Judge for the District of Massachusetts. He also received an award for his civil rights work from the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights in 2009.
