Foley Hoag is again one of Boston area’s top places to work, according to the 2012 edition of The Boston’s Globe’s annual survey of the state’s best workplaces.

Foley Hoag was the only law firm to make this year’s list, which appeared in the paper’s print edition on November 4. The firm earned the ranking from a written submission and confidential interviews with employees by an independent survey company. Many of the firm’s clients also appeared in the rankings.

Employees were asked to rank their employers on six factors:

• Direction – do employees have confidence in their leadership and believe they operate ethically?
• Execution – does senior management know what they have to do to help the company succeed?
• Connection – do employers appreciate employees?
• Managers – do they help employees grown and learn?
• Work – does the company offer training, encourage difference viewpoints, offer opportunities, etc.?
• Pay and benefits – are employees fairly compensated?

The firm was ranked alongside well-known Massachusetts-based companies such as Analysis Group, Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Cubist Pharmaceuticals, EMC Corporation, Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan. Foley Hoag has 400 partners and employees in Massachusetts.
