Foley Hoag Advises Ubersense in its Acquisition by Hudl

September 22, 2014

Foley Hoag recently advised sports media company Ubersense in its acquisition by Hudl, a sports team analysis software provider.

Founded in Boston in 2011, Ubersense helps individual athletes such as pro golfers, speed skaters and tennis players improve their techniques by analyzing video of themselves in action. Users are able to review their own performance through slow-motion review, drawing tools, side-by-side video comparison and voiceovers. Ubersense estimates that its iOS app has been downloaded more than 2.5 million times by coaches and athletes in over 50 sports in 150 countries. Nebraska-based Hudl markets its video training tools and apps to sports teams, making their videos, diagrams and presentations securely available to them over the Internet. Their software is used by more than 55,000 teams worldwide, including teams in the National Football League, National Basketball Association, English Premier League and over 15,000 high schools and universities.

Ubersense will continue to operate in Boston, and its app will remain the same. The acquisition will allow both companies to leverage each other's distinct areas of expertise while providing cutting-edge video coaching and analysis tools to their respective users.

Foley Hoag partner Mark Haddad and associate Prithvi Tanwar advised Ubersense in this transaction.
