Foley Hoag Attorneys to Participate in International Law Weekend 2016

October 27, 2016

Foley Hoag LLP attorneys Mélida Hodgson, Daniel Schimmel, Patricia Cruz Trabanino and Manuela de la Helguera will participate in various sessions at International Law Weekend 2016, being held October 27-29 at Fordham University School of Law in New York. The event is presented by the American Branch of the International Law Association and the International Law Students Association.

The Implications of CETA, TPP and TTIP Investment Provisions.” The discussion will focus on the impact of emerging forces and new scenarios on investment treaty arbitration. Hodgson will also participate in the panel “Gender Balance and Diversity in International Adjudication: A Glass Ceiling?” during the earlier International Law Week (the annual meeting of Legal Advisers of United Nations member states).

Schimmel will serve as moderator for “FCPA and Law Enforcement Investigations: Their Consequences on International Comity and International Arbitrations,” a panel focusing on law enforcement investigations in the U.S. and their effect on international comity and international arbitrations.

Cruz Trabanino will moderate and de la Helguera will serve as a panelist for “International Arbitration in Latin America: Are We Innovating or Catching Up?” The discussion will focus on strategies emerging in Latin America to address the changing circumstances in commercial and investor-State arbitration.

Partners Hodgson and Schimmel and associates Cruz Trabanino and de la Helguera are members of Foley Hoag's International Litigation and Arbitration Department.
