As an experienced litigator, Barbara Hamelburg focuses on the resolution of complex disputes involving health care, employment, medical devices, malpractice, and directors' and officers' liability, and general liability. Her litigation experience includes jury and bench trials involving a variety of business, health care and employment matters, including successful handling of several multi-million dollar products liability and commercial matters.

Barbara’s clients have included one of the largest healthcare providers in the United States, which operates mental health and acute care hospitals, surgical centers, and counseling centers. She has also represented an international pharmaceutical company, and an international airport company in litigation.

Before joining Foley Hoag, Barbara chaired the health law department of another major national firm, where she also served as chair of the Strategic Planning Committee and headed the Women’s Initiative. She was also litigation partner and pro bono coordinator at another Boston area firm. Prior to practicing law, Barbara worked as an Acquisitions Editor for several major publishing companies, most recently Houghton Mifflin Company of Boston.
