Patricia Cruz Trabanino is an associate in the firm’s International Litigation and Arbitration Department. Patricia’s practice focuses on the representation of sovereign States in investor-State disputes. She has represented clients in arbitrations initiated under bilateral investment treaties before the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). Patricia also represents foreign sovereigns before U.S. courts.

  • Italba Corporation v. Oriental Republic of Uruguay (ICSID Case No. ARB/16/9). Representing the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in an ICSID proceeding brought under a bilateral investment treaty in connection with the telecommunications industry.
  • Anglo American plc v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (ICSID Case No. ARB(AF)/14/1). Representing the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in an ICSID (Additional Facility) proceeding brought under a bilateral investment treaty in connection with a nickel mining concession.
  • TENARIS S.A. and TALTA – Trading e Marketing Sociedade Unipessoal Lda. v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (ICSID Case No. ARB/12/23). Representing the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in an ICSID proceeding brought under bilateral investment treaties in connection with the steel industry.
  • Highbury International AVV, Compañía Minera de Bajo Caroní AVV, and Ramstein Trading Inc. v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (ICSID Case No. ARB/14/10). Represented the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in an ICSID proceeding brought under bilateral investment treaties in connection with gold and diamond mining concessions.
  • Gold Reserve Inc. v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (ICSID Case No. ARB(AF)/09/1). Represented the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela before U.S. courts in proceedings to enforce an award issued by an ICSID (Additional Facility) Tribunal.
