Patricia Cruz Trabanino is an international dispute resolution lawyer in the firm’s International Litigation and Arbitration Department. She focuses her practice on the representation of sovereign States in investor-State disputes and public international law matters. Patricia has represented numerous clients in arbitrations initiated under international investment agreements  before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). Patricia also represents sovereign States in U.S. federal court proceedings and in advisory matters concerning international law.

Representative Experience

  •  Metro de Lima Línea 2 S.A. v. Republic of Peru (ICSID Case No. ARB/17/3). Representing the Republic of Peru in an ICSID case arising from a Public-Private Partnership contract for the construction of the Lima metro.
  • Italba Corporation v. Oriental Republic of Uruguay (ICSID Case No. ARB/16/9). Represented the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in an ICSID proceeding brought under a bilateral investment treaty in connection with the telecommunications industry.
  • Anglo American plc v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (ICSID Case No. ARB(AF)/14/1). Represented the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in an ICSID (Additional Facility) proceeding brought under a bilateral investment treaty in connection with a nickel mining concession.
  • TENARIS S.A. and TALTA – Trading e Marketing Sociedade Unipessoal Lda. v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (ICSID Case No. ARB/12/23). Represented the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in an ICSID proceeding brought under bilateral investment treaties in connection with the steel industry.
  • Highbury International AVV, Compañía Minera de Bajo Caroní AVV, and Ramstein Trading Inc. v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (ICSID Case No. ARB/14/10). Represented the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in an ICSID proceeding brought under bilateral investment treaties in connection with gold and diamond mining concessions.
  • Gold Reserve Inc. v. Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (ICSID Case No. ARB(AF)/09/1). Represented the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela before U.S. courts in proceedings to enforce an award issued by an ICSID (Additional Facility) Tribunal.
