    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our Boston or New York office for an associate who is a registered patent attorney with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology or immunology.

    We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and at least three years of prior patent prosecution experience. Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the areas of molecular biology, immunology, immunooncology, genetics, and agricultural biotechnology would be particularly useful.

    Foley Hoag’s Life Sciences practice group has an opening in our Boston office for a lawyer with a minimum of eight years of experience representing emerging companies in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and/or medical device sectors. Ideally, candidates will have experience negotiating and drafting agreements regarding intellectual property rights, including patent license agreements with universities and collaboration agreements with pharmaceutical companies. Experience representing clients at board of director meetings, as well as speaking on panels and at conferences is preferred.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with significant experience representing life sciences companies to play an important role in the expansion of our practice. Portable billings are not required.

  • Junior IP Litigation Associate - New York

    July 11, 2018

    Foley Hoag’s Intellectual Property Litigation group has an opening in our New York office for a lawyer with one to two years of litigation experience. Experience in cases involving patent or other IP rights is helpful, but not required. The position will involve representation of biopharma manufacturers, research institutions and universities in patent, inventorship, and contract disputes before U.S. courts, in arbitral proceedings, in the International Trade Commission, and in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The caseload is also expected to include litigation in the areas of false advertising, trademark, copyright, and business disputes. A science degree is not required.

    Candidates with experience limited to a judicial clerkship are welcomed. Such candidates should apply directly, rather than through a recruiter.

    Foley Hoag seeks a Patent Practice Specialist with an advanced understanding of U.S. and foreign patent prosecution rules, procedures and guidelines. The person who fills this role must be able to apply their knowledge to different contexts and be able to identify and review critical information.
