I work with investment managers on setting up hedge funds, private equity funds and other private fund vehicles.
Private investment funds, in particular hedge funds and private equity funds, are the practice focus for Jeffrey Collins. He has extensive experience in the formation of both onshore and offshore fund vehicles. He also helps his diverse group of investment manager clients comply with federal and state registration and regulatory obligations. In addition to his fund formation work, he also represents some of the leading OCIOs, family offices and other institutional investors in connection with their investments, including reviewing offering materials and negotiating side letters and investment management agreements.
Jeff provides the full range of services to private fund managers, and takes pride in providing creative, tailored advice. In addition to fund formation work and compliance advice, he has significant experience in structuring management companies for private fund managers in order to achieve optimal business and tax results for management. Jeff also reviews International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) agreements for his clients. He has advised a number of fund managers based outside the United States on U.S. regulatory, securities and tax matters.
In addition to his private funds practice, Jeff is the co-managing partner of Foley Hoag. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the firm’s day-to-day operations and implementing its long-term strategic plan – to continue to be an elite firm that attracts world class diverse talent focused on providing superior service to our client base.
