Fall 2024 Foley Hoag Foundation Grant Round

The Trustees of the Foley Hoag Foundation are pleased to announce that the Foundation awarded grants totaling $100,000 to 18 organizations in December as part of its 2024 Fall grant cycle.

The organizations that the Foundation has funded are based in Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C. and are all dedicated to working to improve social equity by increasing access to the arts, stimulating community engagement, providing legal services, improving access to health services, offering educational programming and assistance, or running youth development programs.

The fall 2024 grantees are as follows:

BOSTON
  • Abilities Dance Incorporated: $6,000 to support its Professional Performing Company, a company of professional dancers and performers with disabilities. 
  • ANIKAYA/Akhra: $5,000 to expand youth programming and launch an intensive training program on public space performance creation.
  • Boston Affordable Housing Coalition d/b/a Mass Alliance of HUD Tenants (MAHT): $7,000 to mobilize low-income HUD and MassHousing tenants to improve housing conditions, prevent evictions, and codify policy changes.
  • E inc.: $7,000 for the Kids Green Their School (KGTS) program, which brings hands-on STEM and environmental education into public schools across greater Boston.
  • Girls’ LEAP: $5,000 to launch a teen mentor-led series on safe social media use for middle and high school students, parents, and youth workers.
  • Horizons Greater Boston: $7,000 to add a Grade 8 class, serving an additional 15-16 students next summer with project-based academic and enrichment activities.
  • Love Your Magic: $5,000 for the All About (Self) Love after-school program, which serves 40-45 Black and Brown elementary and middle school girls to support the development of a positive identity.
  • Rebuilding Together Boston: $7,000 to support a full-time executive director salary, allowing for the hiring of additional staff and more funds to complete home and building renovation projects for low-income and older adults.
  • Resist f/b/o Boston Education Justice Alliance: $5,000 to support grassroots organizing campaigns that create equitable and transparent decision making in building and budgetary decisions for Boston Public Schools (BPS).

NEW YORK CITY
  • Carroll Gardens Association: $7,000 to expand the We Rise Nanny Training Program, improving the working conditions, mental health, and economic security of domestic workers.
  • FJC f/b/o Teens Take Charge: $5,000 to build capacity and grow the staff team to empower New York City public school students with the tools to amplify their voices to dismantle an inequitable public school system.
  • Flanbwayan Haitian Literacy Project: $4,000 to support and expand the Tèt Ansanm Leadership Group for Girls, which teaches Haitian high school girls leadership skills and critical thinking and promotes self-confidence and community.
  • The Open Door NJNY: $7,000 to support the English as a Second Language (ESL) program so students may gain meaningful employment, confidence in communication, and the ability to efficiently support their families.
  • Pepatian: $4,550 for a joint program with Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center that includes a workshop series and teaching residency culminating in a performance for pre-professional dance students.

WASHINGTON, D.C.
  • Immigrant and Refugee Outreach Center: $4,000 for the Scholarship Program, which supports immigrants and refugees of working age with stipends to obtain job training and vocational certifications.
  • Juanita C. Grant Foundation: $4,000 to support additional elder abuse, domestic violence awareness, and fraud prevention workshops presented to older adults in Prince George’s County.
  • Loudoun Literacy Council: $7,000 to standardize and expand its English Language Learner (ELL) program for adult learners and pilot the updated program.
  • Pink Space Theory: $4,000 to increase the number of students at Title 1 schools it serves with STEAM after-school and in-school programming.
