Dr. Landsmark is a distinguished educator, lawyer, and civic leader, who was the subject of the Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph, "The Soiling of Old Glory", taken by Stanley Forman in 1976, which sparked national outrage and debate over racism, civil rights, and patriotism. Stanley Forman is a renowned photojournalist, who worked for the Boston Herald American for 18 years, covering some of the most turbulent and historic events in the city and beyond. He won three consecutive Pulitzer Prizes for his work.
In this fireside chat, Dr. Landsmark and Mr. Forman offered their insights and stories of the moment that transformed their lives and the nation and discuss the legacy and relevance of the photograph today. They also engaged with the audience during a live Q&A section.
