Please join us for a timely webinar, Cannabis Rescheduling Update: Timely Applicants, Orders to Show Cause, and the Dual-Use State Problem, where Jesse Alderman and Mike McQueeny will break down the latest federal developments in cannabis rescheduling and what they mean for state-licensed operators. Six months after the Department of Justice's Final Order placing state-licensed medical cannabis in Schedule III, DEA's registration process is producing results, and some of them are surprising.
DEA has published its list of nearly 7,000 "timely applicants" seeking expedited registration and has begun issuing the first registrations to medical cannabis businesses. Simultaneously, the DEA has issued guidance identifying, for the first time, the scope and obligations of operators within the new “closed loop” federal/state system. Relatedly, the DEA has started issuing Orders to Show Cause that propose to deny registration to certain applicants operating under "dual-purpose" state licenses, which authorize both medical and adult-use sales.
Whether you are a DEA registrant or timely applicant wondering what new obligations come with it, an operator in a dual-use state weighing how to (or whether it may have to) respond to an Order to Show Cause, or a stakeholder tracking the federal landscape, this webinar will give you practical insight into where DEA's registration process stands and where it may be headed (for better or worse).
