BioSpace recapped the BIO 2025 Nordic Kickoff Breakfast, hosted at our Boston office on June 16, 2025. The article described a general air of optimism for the Life Sciences industry, noting that many BIO 2025 attendees had come specifically for BIO Partnering.
Jeff Quillen (above, seated at left), Partner and co-chair of Foley Hoag’s Life Sciences Industry Group, spoke at the event and noted that recent downsizing of the FDA, CMS and PTO could slow down product approvals and patent approvals. He said that the Trump administration occasionally backtracks on policies in response to market feedback, including the 90-day suspension of recent tariff increases and a decision over the weekend to ease immigration enforcement relating to the agriculture and hospitality industries. “That is possibly a hopeful sign in these crazy times.” Quillen also observed that the fundamentals for the biotech industry are still good in that there are still great scientists focused on unmet medical needs and generating great data.
