Foley Hoag Honored with President’s Award at BBA Law Day 2023
June 16, 2023
Foley Hoag LLP is pleased to announce that the firm was honored with the 2023 President’s Award at the Boston Bar Association’s (BBA) Law Day Celebration, held on June 15, 2023. The award was presented to the firm by BBA President Chinh Pham.
This award recognizes Foley Hoag for its representation of a class of Venezuelan asylum-seekers who were flown from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, enticed by false offers of jobs and services. Together with the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Boston, Foley Hoag filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Gov. DeSantis and other Florida officials.
“We are extremely proud to receive this recognition of our work,” shared Pro Bono Counsel Rebecca Cazabon. “Foley Hoag has long remained committed to supporting the rights of immigrants and asylum-seekers seeking safety and justice.”
BBA’s Annual Law Day event represents a celebration of the rule of law, the role of lawyers in the community, and the strength of the legal network in Boston. Historically drawing over 1,000 lawyers and judges, it is the largest networking event of its kind in Massachusetts. This year’s event featured Governor Maura Healey as keynote speaker.
