The following Foley Hoag partners were also recognized for excellence in the industry in the following jurisdictions, and were described by IAM as:

Barbara Fiacco (National) and Donald Ware (MA) ranked in the Gold tier for litigation.

“Two of the most high-quality trial lawyers Boston has to offer,” and “A formidable team in life sciences litigation, securing multiple victories for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, resulting in significant payouts as well as co-ownership of groundbreaking cancer treatment patents.”

John Lanza (MA)

“Can be looked to for business-centric patent protection and acquisition advice by companies of all sizes.”

DeAnn Smith (MA)

“Offers diversity in her range of expertise, from patent counselling for big-name pharmaceutical companies, to specialised advice regarding IP purchases, to deftly handling proceedings before the PTAB.”

Jeremy Younkin (MA)

“A sound litigator for both patent and trade secret matters. His recent work includes successfully defending Elysium Health against infringement claims, and an ongoing case alongside Fiacco representing Enanta Pharmaceuticals in an infringement case against Pfizer.”

The annual IAM Patent 1000 guide is compiled following an extensive research process conducted over a five month-period. Individuals qualify for a listing when they receive sufficient positive feedback from peers and clients with knowledge of their practice and the market within which they operate. Firms qualify for a listing on the basis of their depth of expertise, market presence and the level of work on which they are typically engaged.
