Foley Hoag Expands Patent Prosecution Capabilities in Washington, D.C. with Xianfeng Morgan Xu as Counsel

Xianfeng Morgan Xu has joined Foley Hoag LLP as Counsel in the Intellectual Property Department and as a member of the Patent Prosecution, Strategy & Management practice. He is resident in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
Xu advises biotech and life sciences clients on their patent portfolio strategies and management, from U.S. patent prosecution, global patent procurement, and post-grant proceedings to IP landscape counseling. He assists clients with intellectual property-centric agreement negotiations, patent litigations, transactional IP diligence, freedom-to-operate assessments, and invalidity opinions.
Xu also advises clients in transactions ranging from multibillion-dollar collaborations to sponsored research & licensing, including many US-China cross-border matters.

Prior to joining Foley Hoag, Xu was Senior Director/Vice President of Legal and IP at Inscripta, a life science technology biomanufacturing company. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from Peking University in Beijing, China; a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Plant Biology from The Ohio State University; and a Juris Doctorate from The George Washington University. Prior to his legal career, Xu conducted postdoctoral research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory dissecting how plant stem cells talk to each other via protein sharing.
