Foley Hoag's International Litigation & Arbitration Department and Partner Kenneth Figueroa Ranked by Chambers Latin America 2026

Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration Department and Kenneth Figueroa, Chair of the firm’s Latin America Practice, were recently recognized in the 2026 Chambers Latin America guide, in the International Counsel-International Arbitration category. 

In its newly released guide, Chambers once again recognizes Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration practice, highlighting its "established international arbitration practice with long-standing experience acting on Latin American mandates." The publication further emphasizes that the firm’s "legal team is sought after by sovereign states and state-owned entities for its ability to handle complex investment treaty and commercial arbitration." Chambers goes on to state that “Foley Hoag distinguishes itself in international arbitration through its deep expertise, strategic focus and personalised client approach.” The guide also singles out partner Kenneth Figueroa, noting that “Kenneth Figueroa is a highly skilled lawyer [whose] strategic vision and critical analysis are useful for the creation of a solid defence that truly represents our interests.”

Foley Hoag has been representing Latin American States and their entities in international disputes for over 30 years. The firm’s Latin America practice was formally launched in 2021 and has maintained steady growth. Its multinational and diverse team includes attorneys fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and trained in various jurisdictions in Latin America, with a comprehensive understanding of both common and civil law.

The team is currently representing Honduras in seven different investment arbitrations, including a landmark $11 billion claim related to Honduras’ constitutional repeal of autonomous special economic development zones (ZEDE). The team also represents Peru in five pending ICSID proceedings, including in a new arbitration related to a concession agreement for a gas distribution network in the cities of Lima and Callao, as well as Chile in two matters, including a new ICSID arbitration concerning a concession to roll out a 5G network in the country.  Other clients represented by the team include Guatemala, Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil and the Dominican Republic.
