Tafadzwa Pasipanodya Recognized in Africa Arbitration Academy Africa’s 20 Arbitration Powerlist 2026

Foley Hoag is pleased to announce that International Litigation and Arbitration Partner and Africa Practice Group Chair Tafadzwa Pasipanodya has been named to the 2026 edition of Africa’s 20 Arbitration Powerlist, an elite recognition curated by the Africa Arbitration Academy to honor leading arbitration practitioners for their contributions to the development of arbitration on the continent. 

Pasipanodya represents sovereign States and State-owned entities from all over the world in international arbitrations concerning hydrocarbons, mining, the environment, infrastructure, taxation and health policy. She has also advised States in disputes against other States concerning the law of the sea, maritime delimitations, territorial claims, human rights, and environmental rights before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) tribunals, and other bodies.

Her work on the continent includes helping Ghana defeat a multi-billion-dollar damages claim in an oil and gas arbitration, helping Mauritius win an ICSID arbitration concerning a UNESCO World Heritage Site commemorating resistance against slavery; and representing The Gambia in its lawsuit against Myanmar before the ICJ concerning the Rohingya genocide.

Pasipanodya  is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Court of Arbitration and Vice President of the African Society of International Law. Her advocacy and expertise in international arbitration have been recognized by Chambers and Partners, Global Arbitration Review, Legal 500, Lexology Index and Latinvex.
