I am an experienced patent advisor and strategist with expertise protecting key assets of emerging and established biotech companies.

Focused on delivering commercial value, patent attorney David Shore leverages a Ph.D. in molecular biology from Harvard Medical School to build and defend portfolios in complex competitive landscapes. His practice focuses on biology and genetics, emphasizing immunology, antibodies, gene therapy, gene editing, cell therapy, protein therapy, vaccines, diagnostics, and microbiome therapy.

David’s practice includes patent prosecution, freedom to operate analysis, complex landscape analysis, and representation of clients in adversarial challenges. David also represents biotech companies and investors in due diligence. His practice is supported by Foley Hoag’s team of experts in licensing, collaborations, funding agreements, IPOs, corporate law, and regulatory needs. David is known for providing sophisticated clients with creative solutions and exceptional advocacy.

Before beginning his legal career, David held teaching and research roles at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, the United States Department of Agriculture, Harvard Medical School, the University of Illinois, and the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany.
