Legal Tests Await Trump’s Offshore Energy Agenda in 2026

Partner and Senior Policy Director Basil Seggos recently spoke with E&E News on the outlook for offshore energy in 2026, calling the new year “extraordinarily important for the nation’s long-term protection of the environment and commitment to renewable energy.”

Although President Trump moved to halt all new offshore wind projects as part of “The Wind Order” issued on the first day of the new administration, Seggos said that a recent decision from the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts to vacate the order offers optimism for the year ahead: “The district court ruling on offshore wind, that’s the beginning of the fight. No doubt that it’s going to go on appeal, and that appeal is going to take an enormous amount of time to work its way through the courts.”
