Comments from Edo Banach, partner and co-chair of the firm’s Healthcare Department, taken from a panel during the
Hospice News ELEVATE conference, were featured in an article recapping the conference in
Hospice News.
The panel addressed regulatory enforcement trends for hospice benefits, and Banach noted that the rapid changes in enforcement have left many providers unable to keep up with compliance requirements. “What is the most significant regulatory issue facing hospices today? It’s really the lack of alignment between the design of the benefit and the tools that the government has to oversee that benefit,” Banach told
Hospice News at the conference. “We have differences of opinion of what’s medically necessary. Some of the actions, then, that the government takes — and the actions that providers have to take — really work at cross purposes with the aim of the original model.”
