Foley Hoag Names Amy Baker Mandragouras Life Sciences Industry Group Co-Chair
June 03, 2024
Foley Hoag LLP announced that partner Amy Baker Mandragouras has been named Co-Chair of its nationally recognized Life Sciences Industry Group. Mandragouras joins current Co-Chair, Jeffrey Quillen, in overseeing the direction of the group and its attorneys, who help clients navigate issues associated with the development, commercialization, and protection of products and services across the entire life sciences industry.
With over 2000 public and private clients, representing all facets of the life sciences industry and $50 billion in life sciences-related deal activity within the past 10 years, life sciences is Foley Hoag's largest industry sector.
"Amy is a strategic thinker and established leader within the life sciences industry," said Quillen. "I look forward to working with Amy as we enhance our abilities to advise clients on their most significant IP assets, transactions, cases and regulatory concerns."
Mandragouras provides strategic counseling to life sciences companies in developing and implementing intellectual property strategies and building strong global patent portfolios to protect and facilitate commercialization of biopharmaceuticals. Her clients range from entrepreneurs and startups to leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. She was recently recognized by World Intellectual Property Review in its 2023 edition of WIPR Diversity, ranked in the Influential Women in IP category.
Mandragouras' arrival in mid-2023, along with a 10-person team from Cooley, significantly expanded Foley Hoag's life sciences capabilities. Additional growth followed with the recent hiring of a group of EC/VC attorneys in Denver – including Rose Standifer, Allie Clark, and Marc Graboyes, as well as IP attorneys Xianfeng Morgan Xu in Washington, D.C. and Erin Foley in Boston – further amplifying the firm’s commitment to the life sciences industry on a national and global scale.
"My team was eager to join Foley Hoag,” Mandragouras said. “The existing synergies within the life sciences industry group made our integration smooth and continue to facilitate collaboration.”
Attorneys in Foley Hoag's Life Sciences Industry Group have substantial experience throughout all areas of the industry, with clients ranging from biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, and healthcare services companies to medical research institutes and patient organizations. The group's international life science client base spans companies in all stages of development, from startups to Fortune 50 companies.
