Former DOJ and White House Official Daniel Levin Joins Foley Hoag
January 21, 2025
Foley Hoag LLP has expanded its White Collar Crime & Government Investigations practice with the addition of Daniel Levin as partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
Levin represents corporate and individual clients in high-stakes criminal and civil government investigations, and in complex civil litigation. He also handles internal corporate investigations, due diligence, and compliance engagements. Levin has handled matters internationally, as well as before the Justice Department and Congress. His cases include allegations of accounting irregularities, and violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the False Claims Act.
“Dan joins us at an exciting time as we continue to expand our white collar capabilities,” said Tony Mirenda, Co-Chair of Foley Hoag's White Collar Crime & Government Investigations practice. “His background, experience and stellar reputation complement our existing team, and we are looking forward to working with him.”
Prior to private practice, Levin had a long record of government service, including as Legal Adviser to the National Security Council. He was also senior associate counsel to President George W. Bush; chief of staff to Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Robert Mueller; chief of staff to Attorney General William Barr; and counselor to Attorney General John Ashcroft. Levin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Chicago Law School.
“Foley Hoag provides me with an outstanding platform to expand the scope of my practice,” said Levin. “I look forward to helping the firm's clients navigate their most challenging and consequential matters.”
The addition of Levin continues the growth of Foley Hoag’s white collar practice, which recently expanded with the arrivals of a four-person Paris team led by partner Olivier Dorgans; partner Adam Safwat, former Deputy Chief of the Fraud Section at the U.S. Department of Justice; and partner David Lazarus, former U.S. Department of Justice prosecutor.
