Foley Hoag Supports Launch of Adaptation Innovation Lab, a New Accelerator for Climate Adaptation Entrepreneurs

March 30, 2026

Foley Hoag is proud to serve as a founding partner of the Adaptation Innovation Lab (AIL)—a new global pilot accelerator designed to support early‑stage climate adaptation entrepreneurs in emerging markets as they grow, scale, and attract investment.

Launched by the Hazelwood Network in partnership with First Matter, Achiiv, and Foley Hoag, with funding from the ClimateWorks Foundation, the AIL provides a four‑month program of virtual training, investment‑readiness support, and individualized coaching. Foley Hoag attorneys, led by Allie Clark, are providing legal counsel as part of the accelerator’s instruction team.

The inaugural AIL cohort features innovative founders developing solutions that strengthen climate resilience in vulnerable communities around the world:

  • Agriarche (Nigeria): Digitizing agriculture to connect smallholder farmers with inputs, markets, and finance
  • Satellites on Fire (Argentina): AI‑driven early wildfire detection and real‑time monitoring
  • Poás Bioenergy (Costa Rica): Converting agricultural waste into biochar and clean energy to help farmers withstand climate shocks
  • EcoRestore Africa (South Africa): Locally produced biofertilizers designed to restore soil health and protect ecosystems
  • Suyana Climate Insurance (Bolivia): Affordable climate risk insurance for farmers and renewable energy producers

Through the accelerator, participants are receiving guidance on market access, investment strategy, and legal considerations essential to entering new markets and partnering with global investors.

Foley Hoag’s participation reflects the firm’s longstanding commitment to supporting climate innovation, sustainability, and emerging‑market entrepreneurs. The firm’s support of AIL also complements its broader work underway in the climate resilience space, including thought leadership, educational initiatives, and collaboration with clients developing technologies and business models that address the accelerating impacts of climate change.
