Please join Foley Hoag in-person in our Boston office or via
Zoom for a discussion on considerations when implementing diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) initiatives in your organization from an employment & labor law perspective.
Research suggests that businesses benefit from diversity in a multitude of ways including increased morale, sense of community, and better bottom lines. However, DE&I programs may create legal risk when not done correctly. Our panel will provide a comprehensive overview of several key considerations that employers should keep in mind – such as EEO laws, fair or equal pay act laws, and perceptions of unfair treatment – when creating well-intentioned DE&I programs and initiatives.
Our panel will discuss topics including:
- The implications of employment decisions based on membership in a protected class;
- Diversity audits and self-assessments to identify areas for improvement, set realistic goals, design programs that address those areas, and track progress;
- Best practices in connection with DE&I reviews, such as the importance of consistent policies and messaging across the organization and routine monitoring; and,
- The benefits of involving legal counsel in DE&I efforts early in the process to identify legal risks and address them.
We hope you will join us for a lively dialogue.
